
Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator
Reports to: Manager of Recruitment, Partnerships, & Marketing

Position Summary
The Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator coordinates and executes agency-wide volunteer recruitment efforts and recruit potential volunteers and youth as needed to reach agency annual match goals. This position cultivates new collegiate and community partnerships to generate volunteers to mentor youth, and manages existing partner relationships for the purpose of increasing volunteer recruitment and agency awareness. The Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator works with advisory committees, community engagement, and volunteer appreciation efforts. The position also assists to develop and implement short and long term recruitment plans for targeting volunteers and youth to ensure an optimal balance of geographic, demographic, and diversity factors. This position also actively represents the agency at community events, networking events, outreach opportunities, and other activities that increase awareness of agency mission and volunteer needs.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience. Emphasis in communication, business, or marketing preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of three years experience in recruiting, customer service, sales, or grassroots campaign experience preferred.

- Excellent public speaking skills; ability to connect people to the mission and volunteer options. Must be charismatic, persuasive, professional, engaging, and dynamic in order to share the power of mentoring and the impact volunteering will have on the life of a youth as well as the volunteer.

- Demonstrated success in sales or recruitment with proven ability to meet quantitative goals on a monthly basis.
- Ability to create and facilitate formal and informal presentations to varying-sized groups and diverse audiences in-person and virtually.

Responsibilities
Sales and Recruitment
- Annually increase the number of interested and enrolled potential volunteers, families and youth.
- Assist in creation and implementation of a volunteer recruitment strategy that includes collegiate and community outreach efforts to acquire new adult mentors to reach annual match goals in all mentoring programs.
- Volunteer Engagement; with the Manager of Recruitment, Partnerships, & Marketing create and implement a plan to utilize current volunteers to access new potential volunteers. Effectively engage existing volunteers in recruitment efforts by providing support to our advisory committees, and volunteer engagement efforts.
- Analyze and utilize data to prioritize daily, weekly, monthly activities to meet short-term and long-term agency goals.
- Deliver inspiring presentations by incorporating real-life match stories, impressive youth outcomes, and a “call to action.” Customize presentations to align with target audience(s).
- Utilize sales skills to inspire your audience to be a part of our mission.
Planning and Organization
- Assist the Manager of Recruitment, Partnerships, & Marketing to develop an annual operating plan with identified strategies to achieve annual and monthly goals for securing new partnerships, number of potential volunteer inquires, and outreach events attended.
- Research, identify and cultivate potential sources for adult volunteers, including but not limited to Milwaukee and Waukesha corporations, college/universities, government agencies, churches, social organizations, non-profit agencies, law enforcement groups, and professional organizations.
- Create a system to efficiently organize and implement an aggressive recruitment strategy.
- Evaluate, track, monitor, and report progress as it relates to operating plan and monthly goals.
Communication
- Internal
- Balance volunteer recruitment needs by program area (Community-based, mentor2.0, School-based) by communicating efforts and results.
- Maintain ongoing communication with program staff to keep inspiring match stories and volunteer trends current for presentations and corporate partnership updates.
- External
- Prioritize pro-active communication to our existing volunteers.
- Cultivate long-term sustaining relationships with organizations and other community partners through effective stewardship and communications.
- Network with target populations that are prone to volunteer, give back to their community, and have an affinity to mentoring.
Marketing and Outreach
- Strengthen and develop relationships with recruitment partners; collegiate and community through strategic outreach.
- Represent Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee at community outreach events in targeted areas to build awareness of the agency, mission, and recruitment needs.
- Plan, set up, and attend tabling and related events to generate volunteer leads.
- Assist the Manager of Recruitment, Partnerships, & Marketing to create and implement an annual marketing and outreach communication plan, including social media, online, and media communications for recruitment efforts.
- Work with the Recruitment & Enrollment team to develop necessary marketing materials through printed materials, social media, videos, photos, etc.
Other
- Available to work evening and weekend hours required in order to meet the needs of this position.
Other tasks may be assigned, based on business needs and the department supervisor's request or the CEO.
