Events for Bigs and Littles

Match activities provide free and inexpensive things to do and the opportunity to meet other Bigs and Littles. These structured group events are part of REACH, which incorporates learning and development into a variety of activities that provide a well-rounded experience for our Littles. There are five categories of REACH activities:

August Activities 

BBBS & Playworks Playground Pandemonium! * Ages 6-12 Space Still Available
Thursday, August 25 from 6:00pm-7:30pm

Siefert Elementary School 1547 N. 14th St. Milwaukee, 3205
Meet us on the playground for a night of games and activities with other Bigs and Littles from across the city, led by the coaches of Playworks WI. All activities are focused on promoting positive social and emotional interaction and development...and fun, so much fun! Snacks and water will be provided. This event is for Littles ages 6-12.

  Bump, Set, Spike in the Sand *Ages 12 and older
Tuesday, August 30 from 6:00pm-8:00pm

Beulah Brinton Community Center, 2555 Bay St. Milwaukee, 53207
Wrap up the summer and start the school year off with an evening on the sand. Learn the basics of volleyball as you play on the sand courts. Matches will play together and develop skills and teamwork with Milwaukee Recreation. No experience necessary. Dinner will be provided. This event is for Littles ages 12 and older.

Learn! Develop! Grow! Join BBBS for a fun-filled event focused on building your match relationship. This activity is intended for our newest matches, giving you the opportunity to meet new friends, set goals, and learn more about each other. We will have interactive games that will help you with strengthening the building blocks of your friendship. You will walk away with great tips to help you both as you continue to develop your relationship. Dinner will be provided. This event is for matches within the first four months and for all ages.

“Dream Big” with the Milwaukee Bucks *Ages 14 and older

Do you know what your Little wants to be when he or she grows up? No matter what the answer is you can always “Dream Big.” Join us for an evening of exploring different careers within the NBA. Working in professional sports is not limited to playing the game. Matches will have the opportunity to learn about career options in professional sports and sports management. This is a special behind the scenes event that will be interactive and teach Littles about careers, the education they need, and how to make their dream a reality. There will be giveaways, prizes and more! Dinner will be provided. This event is for Littles ages 14 and older.

Movin’ on Up *Ages 11 and older

Middle school is a period of transition for students. This workshop provides an overview of good habits to start before high school that will get students on the path to both high school and post-secondary success. Light snacks will be provided. This event is for Littles ages 11 and older.

Civics in Action at City Hall *Ages 11 and older
Thursday, September 22 from 5:45pm-8:30pm

City Hall, 200 E. Wells, Milwaukee, 53202
Join elected leaders from the City of Milwaukee government for a brief overview of how our youth today can make a difference in their community. The Mayor, Tom Barrett, and an alderperson, will address the group and answer questions. Matches will participate in our “Little Council,” where they will elect a President and vote on laws while representing their district. This activity will teach importance of civic engagement. This is an opportunity to experience what it is like to be a policy maker, learn how decisions are made and how change can happen. Dinner will be provided. This event is for ages 11 and older.

Protecting Animals with Care and Kindness at the Wisconsin Humane Society *All Ages
Friday, September 23 from 6:00pm-8:00pm
Wisconsin Humane Society, 4500 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, 53208
Join matches in visiting the Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) and meet some furry friends! We will provide dinner, a behind the scenes tour of WHS, and get a chance to meet some of the adorable animals currently awaiting new homes! Learn how WHS cares for animals and what they do to make sure animals find the purr-fect home! This event is for all ages.

Match Anniversary Party (new location) *All Ages
Wednesday, September 28 from 6:00pm-8:00pm

AMF Bowlero Lanes, 11737 W. Burleigh St., Wauwatosa, 53222
The Anniversary Party is designed to celebrate long-lasting mentoring relationships. We will have a structured program with games, awards and dinner. Then you and your Little will go bowling with other matches, win prizes, and much more. BBBS holds a Match Anniversary Party every other month. Matches celebrating anniversaries in September and October will attend this party. This event is for all ages.
