Events for Bigs and Littles

Match activities provide free and inexpensive things to do and the opportunity to meet other Bigs and Littles. These structured group events are part of REACH, which incorporates learning and development into a variety of activities that provide a well-rounded experience for our Littles. There are five categories of REACH activities:

2017 January Activities

PEARLS for Teen Girls *Ages 13-16

PEARLS for Teen Girls, 1805 N. Doctor M.L.K. Dr., Milwaukee, 53212
BBBS is partnering with PEARLS for Teen Girls for a four session program specifically for Big Sister/Little Sister matches. PEARLS is a unique leadership development program for girls in Milwaukee. Their programming helps empower girls to live out the PEARLS values: Personal responsibility, Empathy, Awareness, Respect, Leadership, and Support. Little Sisters should be between the ages of 13-16 who are freshmen or sophomores. This program will help Bigs and Littles engage in important conversations about issues of interest and concern to girls this age, including: self-confidence, goal setting, relationship-building, anatomy, and sexual health, while having fun with creative activities.


Match Anniversary Party *All ages

Wednesday, January 25 from 6:00pm-8:00pm

The Anniversary Party is designed to celebrate long-lasting mentoring relationships. We will have a structured program with games, awards and dinner. Then you and your Little will go bowling with other matches. BBBS holds a Match Anniversary Party every other month. Matches celebrating anniversaries in January and February will attend this party. This event is for all ages.

Urban Ecology Center Menominee Valley, 3700 W. Pierce St., Milwaukee, 53215
Winter in Wisconsin can be a challenge, no doubt. But at the Urban Ecology Center, it is time to celebrate winter for the unique opportunities it brings! Learn about what makes winter time so ecologically unique, and then join us for a morning of cross-country skiing. We provide the equipment, winter clothing if you need it, and the hot cocoa! This event is for Littles of all ages.

2017 February Activities

  Blast off with MSOE *Ages 6-12
Wednesday, February 1 from 6:00pm-8:00pm

Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), 1025 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, 53202
Join MSOE’s robotic mining team to learn what it takes to be student at Milwaukee School of Engineering. Matches will participate in a friendly competition by creating paper rockets and launching them with air cannon. Dinner will be provided. This event is for Littles ages 6 to 12.

Learn! Develop! Grow! Join BBBS for a fun-filled event focused on building your match relationship. This activity is intended for our newest matches, giving you the opportunity to meet new friends, set goals and learn more about each other. We will have interactive games that will help you with strengthening the building blocks of your friendship. You will walk away with great tips to help you both as you continue to develop your relationship. Lunch will be provided. This event is for matches within the first four months and for all ages.

Join Bigs and Littles for a fun evening of learning at Discovery World. Learn about the science that allows chocolate to be so versatile and tasty! Discover the process of creating molded chocolate and walk away with your own treat! Light snacks will be provided. This event is for Littles 8-12 years old.

Protecting Animals with Care and Kindness at the Wisconsin Humane Society *All Ages
Friday, February 10 from 6:00pm-8:00pm
Wisconsin Humane Society, 4500 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, 53208
Join matches in visiting the Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) and meet some furry friends! We will provide dinner, a behind the scenes tour of WHS, and you’ll get a chance to meet some of the adorable animals currently awaiting new homes! Learn how WHS cares for animals and what they do to make sure animals find the purr-fect home! This event is for all ages.

Teen Climbing Challenge *Ages 13 and older
Saturday, February 11 from 4:00pm-6:30pm
Adventure Rock Climbing Gym Milwaukee, 2220 N. Commerce St. Milwaukee, 53212
Matches will participate in challenges that foster working together, cooperation, self-esteem building and problem solving. Matches will also participate in rock climbing on the indoor walls. Snacks will be provided. This event is for Littles ages 13 and older.

Robots for Teens *Ages 12 and older
Wednesday, February 15 from 6:00pm-8:00pm
Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), 1025 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, 53202
Join the MSOE's NASA Robtics Mining team to learn about the student organization and  learn about the challenges of exploring the surface of Mars. Then put your skills to the test and create a robot to take home. Dinner will be provided. This event is for Littles ages 12-18.

Feed the Need - Match Service Day *Ages 10 and older
Saturday, February 18 from 9:00am-12:30pm

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, 1700 W. Fond du Lac Ave., Milwaukee, 53205
Join BBBS matches in volunteering at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. There will be a tour to learn the ins and outs of how Feeding America works and then there will be a variety of tasks to help assist in sorting food. Lunch will be provided. This event is for Littles ages 10 and older.

 Big Little Bowl Fundraiser
Thursday, February 23 from 6:00pm-8:00pm
AMF Bowlero, 11737 W. Burleigh St., Wauwatosa, 53222

Join BBBS in reaching our goal of 80 matches participating in our Big/Little Bowl for Kids Sake fundraiser. Each match will need to raise $100 and then will be able receive free shoe rental, two free bowling games, food, sodas, prizes and more. This event is for all ages. Please note: If you cannot attend this Big Little Bowl, join us of Friday, April 7.
