Events for Bigs and Littles

Match activities provide free and inexpensive things to do and the opportunity to meet other Bigs and Littles. These structured group events are part of REACH, which incorporates learning and development into a variety of activities that provide a well-rounded experience for our Littles. There are five categories of REACH activities:

BBBS Smart Start
Wednesday, September 9 from 6:00pm-8:00pm
BBBS Office, 788 N. Jefferson St. Ste. 600, Milwaukee, 53202
Learn! Develop! Grow! Join BBBS for a fun-filled event focused on building your match relationship. This activity is intended for our newest matches, giving you the opportunity to meet new friends, set goals and learn more about each other. We will have interactive games that will help you with strengthening the building blocks of your friendship. You will walk away with great tips to help you both as you continue to develop your relationship. Dinner will be provided. This event is for matches within the first six months and for all ages.

Bump, Set, Spike in the Sand
Thursday, September 10 from 6:00pm-8:00pm
Beulah Brinton Community Center 2555, Bay St. Milwaukee, 53207
Wrap up the summer and start the school year off with a evening on the sand. Learn the basics of volleyball as you play on the sand courts. Matches will play together and develop skills and teamwork with Milwaukee Recreation. No experience necessary. Dinner will be provided. This event is for all ages.

Biking Adventures on the Menomonee Valley 

Saturday, September 19 from 10:00am-12:30pm
Urban Ecology Center Menomonee Valley (3700 W. Pierce St., Milwaukee, 53215)
Fall is on its way. Take a ride along the Menomonee River and explore parts of Milwaukee you may have never seen. Learn the basics of bike safety and the history of the valley while you enjoy the outdoors. No experience or equipment necessary! Dress appropriately for the weather. Snacks will be provided. This event is for Littles ages 11 and older.

Civics in Action at City Hall
Thursday, September 24 from 5:45pm-8:30pm
City Hall, 200 E. Wells, Milwaukee, 53202
Join special guests and elected leaders from the City of Milwaukee government for a brief overview of how our youth today can make a difference in their community. Matches will then tour historic City Hall and learn the importance of civic engagement. Take part in a mock council meeting to experience what it is like to be a policy maker, learn how decisions are made and how change can happen. Dinner will be provided. This event is for all ages.

Protecting Animals with Care and Kindness at the Wisconsin Humane Society
Friday, September 25 from 6:00pm-7:30pm
Wisconsin Humane Society 4500 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, 53208
Join matches in visiting the Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) and meet some furry friends! We will provide dinner, a behind the scenes tour of WHS, and get a chance to meet some of the adorable animals currently awaiting new homes! Learn how WHS cares for animals and what they do to make sure animals find the purr-fect home! This event is for all ages.

Match Anniversary Party (new location)
Wednesday, September 30 from 6:00pm-8:00pm
Dave & Buster’s, 2201 N. Mayfair Rd., Wauwatosa, WI 53226
The Anniversary Party includes awards, games and food. Our party is designed to celebrate long-lasting mentoring relationships. We will have a chance to play games. BBBS holds a Match Anniversary Party every other month. Matches celebrating anniversaries in September and October will attend this party. This event is for all ages.
