Events for Bigs and Littles

Match activities provide free and inexpensive things to do and the opportunity to meet other Bigs and Littles. These structured group events are part of REACH, which incorporates learning and development into a variety of activities that provide a well-rounded experience for our Littles. There are five categories of REACH activities:

June Activities 

BBBS Tailgate & Brewers game * All ages
Tuesday, June 28 –Tailgate 5:30pm-7:00pm & Game time 7:10pm
Miller Park, One Brewers Way, Milwaukee, 53214

Join BBBS for an evening of tailgating before the game. We will have games, snacks, sign making, and more. Thanks to our sponsor Northwestern Mutual for the generous donations of Milwaukee Brewers tickets to this game. Please note: Parking is not included. This event is for Littles of all ages.

July Activities

  My Mentor and Me 2-on-2 Basketball Tournament *All Ages
Saturday, July 9 from 10:00am-12:30pm
Beulah Brinton Community Center, 2555 Bay St., Milwaukee, 53207
Dribble, pass, shoot, and score. Join BBBS for an outdoor 2-on-2 basketball tournament. All skill levels are welcome. We will have age and gender divisions. Matches will play together, develop team building skills, and meet new matches. Awards, prizes and lunch will be provided. *Please note: If you are a couple’s match we will rotate you in.

Like the globe-trotters on the TV show “Amazing Race,” you can follow the route markers on a trip “around the world” in this exciting class! Take off on a scavenger hunt through the zoo to find some of its “oddest” animals. Discover how animals use their senses to survive as you test your own senses through fun challenges and road blocks. Don’t delay… the challenges await! This event is for Littles ages 6-14.

Urban Ecology Center Washington Park, 1859 N. 40th St., . Milwaukee, 53208
Explore pond life and aquatic adaptations along the shore of a lagoon. Learn skills in canoeing and continue your exploration on the lagoon to discover more pond ecology using nets and other equipment. Dinner will be provided. This event is for all ages.

Match Anniversary Party (new location) *All Ages
Wednesday, July 27 from 6:00pm-8:00pm
AMF Bowlero Lanes, 11737 W Burleigh St., Wauwatosa, 53222
The Anniversary Party is designed to celebrate long-lasting mentoring relationships. We will have a structured program with games, awards and dinner. Then you and your Little will go bowling with other matches, win prizes, and much more. BBBS holds a Match Anniversary Party every other month. Matches celebrating anniversaries in July and August will attend this party. This event is for all ages.

Zoo Careers in Action *Ages 14-18
Saturday, July 30 from 9:00am-12:00pm

Milwaukee County Zoo, 10001 W. Bluemound Rd., Milwaukee, 53226
Running a zoo takes a lot more than meets the eye. Explore the many jobs that create great experiences for zoo visitors and help care for the Zoo’s animals. Gain a better understanding of the variety of zoo careers by going behind the scenes and talking to a zookeeper, a vet tech, and a horticulturist. Snacks will be provided. This event if for Littles ages 14 and older.
