Events for Bigs and Littles

Match activities provide free and inexpensive things to do and the opportunity to meet other Bigs and Littles. These structured group events are part of REACH, which incorporates learning and development into a variety of activities that provide a well-rounded experience for our Littles. There are five categories of REACH activities:

Wednesday, June 28 from 6:00pm-8:00pm

Riverside Urban Ecology Center, 1500 E. Park Pl., Milwaukee, 53211
Come join the UEC for a survival adventure in the wilderness of Riverside Park! Matches will learn wilderness skills such as no-match fires, shelter building, and a fun survival scavenger hunt. The night will wrap up around a bonfire, but you’ll have to earn your s’mores! This event is for all ages.

Wheel of Fun Rentals, Veterans Park, 1400 N. Lincoln Memorial Dr., Milwaukee, 53202
Join Wheel of Fun Rentals, a Big Brothers Big Sisters nation partner, for an evening of biking, paddle boating, paddle boarding, and more. We will facilitate team building activities to help get to know other matches, problem solve, and accomplish goals. This is a great way to try something new and be active. Matches will rotate through a variety of activities to enjoy a sample of the different experiences Wheel of Fun has to offer. We will provide snacks and water. This event is for all skills levels and all ages.

Marine Mammals *Ages 6-14 
Saturday, July 15 from 9:00am-12:00pm

Milwaukee County Zoo, 10001 W. Bluemound Rd., Milwaukee, 53226
Ahoy, mate! “Dive” into our aquatic classroom and see if you have what it takes to train and work with marine mammals such as seals and sea lions! Learn about whales, otters, and walruses as you create your own marine mammal. We’ll “swim” to the Milwaukee County Zoo’s Oceans of Fun Seal & Sea Lion Show, to admire marine creatures up close. It will be a whale of a good time! Snacks will be provided. This event is for Littles ages 6-14.

Critters & Canoes *All Ages
Thursday, July 20 from 5:30pm-8:00pm

Urban Ecology Center Washington Park, 1859 N. 40th St., Milwaukee, 53208
Explore pond life and aquatic adaptations along the shore of a lagoon. Learn canoeing skills and continue your exploration on the lagoon to discover more pond ecology using nets and other equipment. Dinner will be provided. This event is for all ages.

Cream City Gardening *All Ages

Join us for a morning of volunteering with The Guest House. Matches will learn about urban gardening, how to raise produce, and do tasks to help maintain the Cream City Garden. We will be provide snacks. This event is for all ages.

Match Anniversary Event (new location) *All Ages
Monday, July 24 from 6:00pm-8:00pm

Bounce Milwaukee, 2801 S. 5th Ct., Milwaukee, 53207
The Anniversary Event  is designed to celebrate long-lasting mentoring relationships. We will have a structured program with games, awards and dinner. Then you and your Little will explore Bounce with rock climbing, lazar tag, and bounce houses. BBBS holds a Match Anniversary Event every other month. Matches celebrating anniversaries in July and August will attend this party. This event is for all ages.
