Events for Bigs and Littles

Match activities provide free and inexpensive things to do and the opportunity to meet other Bigs and Littles. These structured group events are part of REACH, which incorporates learning and development into a variety of activities that provide a well-rounded experience for our Littles. There are five categories of REACH activities:

2017 March Activities


Ko-Thi Dance Company Workshop 
Saturday, March 25 from 10:00am-11:30am
The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts Dance Rehearsal Hall A, 4th Floor at 123 E. State St., Milwaukee, 53202
Join BBBS for a hands-on workshop to experience the infectious music and extraordinary dances of the African and Caribbean culture. Bigs and Littles will learn beginning dance movements that are fun and energetic with easy-to-follow choreography. Class will be accompanied by live drummers creating vibrant rhythms! Light snacks will be provided. This event is for Littles ages 10 and older.

Match Anniversary Party *All Ages Space Still Available!

AMF Bowlero Lanes, 11737 W. Burleigh St., Wauwatosa, 53222
The Anniversary Party is designed to celebrate long-lasting mentoring relationships. We will have a structured program with games, awards and dinner. Then you and your Little will go bowling with other matches. BBBS holds a Match Anniversary Party every other month. Matches celebrating anniversaries in March and April will attend this party. This event is for all ages.

Baseball Clinic with Biking for Baseball (outdoor/indoor) *All ages
Sunday, April 2 from 1:00pm-3:00pm
Beulah Brinton Community Center, 2555 S. Bay St., Milwaukee, 53207
Join BBBS and Biking for Baseball and learn and play a lifetime sport of baseball. The clinic will include drills and skills to practice catching, throwing and hitting. This is a hands-on activity and we ask that both the Bigs and Littles participate. We will be sending off a local bicyclist, who will embark on a 11,000 mile solo biking trip throughout the country in support of BBBS and Biking for Baseball. He will raise money for scholarships, promote mentoring, biking and baseball. Please note: the clinic will be held outside if weather permits. We will move inside if needed. We will provide equipment and light snacks. This event is for Littles of all ages.

BBBS Smart Start
Saturday, April 8 from 10:00am-12:00pm

Learn! Develop! Grow! Join BBBS for a fun-filled event focused on building your match relationship. This activity is intended for our newest matches, giving you the opportunity to meet new friends, set goals and learn more about each other. We will have interactive games that will help you with strengthening the building blocks of your friendship. You will walk away with great tips to help you both as you continue to develop your relationship. Lunch will be provided. This event is for matches within the first four months and for all ages.

Big Little Bowl Fundraiser
Friday, April 7 from 6:00pm-8:00pm

AMF Bowlero, 11737 W. Burleigh St., Wauwatosa, 53222
Teach your Little about the importance of giving back. Join BBBS in reaching our goal of 80 matches participating in our Big Little Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser. Each match will need to raise $100 and will receive free shoe rental, two free bowling games, food, sodas, prizes and more. This event is for all ages. Please note: If you cannot attend this Big Little Bowl, you can join a different date that works best for you. Click here for additional Bowl for Kids’ Sake dates. Register to bowl by Friday, March 31 and you will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 gift card to your favorite restaurant!

Get up close and personal with a sea creature as you explore the anatomy of an invertebrate! Bigs and Littles learn the basics of dissection while investigating specific organs, body systems, and the unique adaptations of squid. We will provide light snacks. This event if for Littles ages 8-12.

Join us for an evening of volunteering at Retzer Nature Center. Matches will assist with a variety of projects to beautify the park. This activity will allow your match to make a lasting impact on the environment. Dinner will be provided. Please note: This event is rain or shine. This event is for all ages.

Join First Stage for a private pre-show workshop to develop a deeper understanding of the play. Bigs and Littles will explore Junie B.’s daily adventures through first grade and discover their own stories of friendship, courage, truth and family. Light snacks will be provided. This event is for Littles 6 and older.

Superior Culinary Center, 4550 S. Burst Ave., Saint Francis, 53235
Join BBBS for a morning in preparing and cooking authentic Spanish cuisine. Bigs and Littles learn the importance of fundamental kitchen skills including measuring, mixing, working cleanly and safely in the kitchen and will explore new foods while following recipes. The menu will include: tri color Mexican bean salad, tamale cazulea, Mexican chocolate and more. Bring home your samples to share with family and friends. This event for Littles ages 10-13.
